Sorano is a village rich in history, it was born in medieval times as a possession of the Aldobrandeschi family, after the marriage between Anastasia Aldobrandeschi and Romano Orsini, the city passed under the Orsini county. In the 15th century Sorano was conquered by the Sienese and in 1556 it became part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, under the government of the Medici family of Florence.
